You can drive 4 days from Portland ME to Flagstaff AZ with your brother.
You can tell people around you to stop smoking.
You can use private restrooms in shops when they are off limits to everyone else…
AND!!!!!!
You can start a new ER rotation in your fourth year of med school and on the first day do numerous history and physicals and present them to attendings and residents, pelvic exams, IVs, foley catheters, assist with a chest tube, central line…do a foley cath and CPR on a guy with a dissecting aorta, splints, and have people look at you and say… “wow, you’re 7 months pregnant? no way” “WAY!” It can be done… and it can be great while doing it.
As you can tell, I had an AWESOME first ER day… yesterday was orientation, which was no biggie and just lasted a couple of hours… I met my roomates in the house I’m staying at…
Lora a 4th yr from PHX
Jon a 4th yr from Cali
Mark a 4th yr from PHX
AND guess what? my car is the ONLY one in the driveway that is not a LEXUS! 3 LEXI (?) and 1 lonely Subaru. But they are AWESOME people!!!
Today my day started at 7am, and I was working with one of the docs who first thing started off diagnosing a guy with a left bundle branch block who had just been feeling weak all night, no chest pain, no SOB, but the EKG changes were new… the cath lab was down in the ED like lightening even before the cardiac enzymes were back and he had a 3 vessel blockage and needed bypass! I should have known the day was going to be crazy after that…. like I said the aortic dissection that came in intoxicated. We did a chest tube (huge hemo-pneumo), central line, I put in the foley, and I started CPR after we tried pacing him and lost a pulse. He ended up passing away. And this was right after another patient who came in for chest pain, who went into AFIB, then asystole, then was shocked and came back!!! And the list goes on and on! But I had a great time!!!!!!
I get bigger by the day, and officially it looks like there is a basketball under my shirt :0) It’s kinda fun… I think Pedie likes the ER too!! It was fun, not stressful.
Oh and on the wedding front…. please look for the invitations in the mail, it will look like a postcard of Sedona with some info on the back… that is, if I got your address
MUCH LOVE ALL!!!!!
