The couch is underneath me with blankets on top… I have been sick. It started on Thursday with muscle aches and then a high fever, those have subsided and a really harsh cough has erupted. It kept me up all night and now is just really trying my patience.
I think everyone knows what it’s like to sit in a room with important people and try to suppress a cough… no? Today was such a day but with our Psychiatric team group… I am now on Psych and I am enjoying it. It is good to realize that diseases of the mind are just like most other diseases and need to be treated as such. But it’s a lot harder when that tickle creeps up into the back of your throat… I could hold it no longer and began quietly coughing and coughing and coughing. I finally had to excuse myself in order to have one of those embarrassing coughing fits in the hallway… bummer. It brought back memories of 3rd grade for some reason…
So from what I think.. I was hit with the flu. The first time I have ever in my life had the flu, EVER. This is also the first year that I have ever HAD to get the flu vaccine (for work), coincidence? … on NPR they said that the vaccine for this year has not been covering the strains that have been isolated across the country during this flu season. There you go.
So my sick evening includes a quilt, the couch, a painful cough and The Office. I’m about to make a venture out for a sandwich and some NyQuil.
Things are great here. D is enjoying his EMT course and his old boss from the Miami Dolphins project has figured out some work for him to do here….things are wonderful. The only thing that could be better is to have the sun come out a bit more in these parts.
The view from my couch?
