(Gretch says…) Here I am, sitting at the espresso bar, JavaNet, in Portland, hanging out with my old friend and barista Benny. I met Benny a couple years ago when I started med school and I found JavaNet to be a study home. He has served me (and now Dennis too!) the best iced soy mochas in town. I started keeping a mug here and have gone out with and become close friends with other folks who work here as well…Kim, Erin, Alex, Eric, Eric, Joel…how do such strangers become almost a family?? It is about being open and receptive… Benny’s story…he is an amazing cartoonist / illustrator / designer guy…check it out yo.

He should be working, I should be studying. Studying what you ask? The Endocrine system. I have 5 exams in the next week, and I’m enjoying the opportunity of pretending like I don’t for a couple hours. How did I get myself into this predicament? Well, my computer is sitting on top of my stack of books…my coffee is getting old as I sit here and type…and I just can’t seem to concentrate.
The point of this blog???
To thank you so much for your friendship if you are reading this right now. Amazing how you can become so close with strangers, always remember that you never know how awesome someone can be until you give them a chance. So give them a chance! You could meet a Benny! Your friendship means so much to Dennis and I.
